Born and raised in the outdoors
where exploration, adventure and motorcycles were the order of the day
Graeme spent his childhood on a large cattle ranch in central Zimbabwe near the town of Mvuma. After moving to Lake Kariba in the north of Zimbabwe, Graeme was introduced to off - road trail riding and began to explore vast swathes of the Zambezi Valley on his motorcycle. These regular forays into the wilderness, as well as frequent camping and 4x4 expeditions fuelled his love for adventure and discovery and ultimately a career in the outdoors.
In his early twenties, after studying Adventure Tourism Management in New Zealand, Graeme led several multi day enduro tours from Kariba to Victoria Falls, paddled several stretches of the Zambezi River, sat his LPHG exams and managed luxurious safari camps in the Zambezi Valley.
With the urge to travel and explore distant horizons, Graeme left the wilds of Zimbabwe to spend a decade studying and living abroad in San Francisco, Denver, Christchurch and Auckland. With their close proximity to the Pacific Ocean, Rocky Mountains and the Southern Alps there was plenty of opportunity to experience the outdoors.
In 2018 Graeme returned to Zimbabwe in pursuit of a child hood dream to compete in and finish the Dakar Rally, the toughest off-road endurance event in the world. Graeme completed the five international qualifying rallies without incident, allowing him the opportunity to line up at the start of the 2020 Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia. 9,200Kms and 12 days later and one of the 48% who finished the gruelling event, Graeme crossed the finish line and became the first Zimbabwean motorcyclist to complete the Dakar.
Graeme currently lives in Harare, a central base that allows him the opportunity to travel and explore Zimbabwe’s remote wilderness.
